Sustainability
Our overall corporate responsibility strategy is determined at our headquarters in Japan, where most of our production occurs. Of course, this does not mean that we are not closely involved in our own complementary initiatives – we are!
Corporate social responsibility is just that. Being responsible socially as a company. This has multiple facets, and as far as we are concerned, you could really leave out the word social. Corporate responsibility is being responsible for our actions. Actually, this is simply part of who we are – it’s in our corporate DNA if you like – so we are confident that we naturally act responsibly.
We are honest and authentic in our dealings – both in business and interpersonally. We treat people and processes with fairness and respect with respect to . The same applies to the environment. Most of our environmental impact is in Japan, where the majority of our products are produced. Our reagents, however, are produced in Germany, and our production plant is state-of-the-art as far as energy and resource consumption is concerned, including an ultra-modern photovoltaic system.
In addition to the bigger picture, our employees are involved on a micro-level too. We support numerous donation campaigns and we have an environmental workgroup that discusses improvements in our environmental performance. Another successful local initiative is our ‘Sysmex Helping Children’ project, in which we donate fully functional computers we can no longer use to schools, learning centres, etc.
Responsibility for our surroundings is part of who we are. Whether it’s people, business or the natural environment. It’s expressed in everything we do.
